        The early Gothic abbot's chapel was originally the chapel of the infirmary and is praised as a "well-preserved and artistically highly remarkable building of the Cistercian early Gothic period". The exterior is structured by pilaster strips, round-arch friezes and buttresses. After the roof cornice was removed in 1892/1893, the polygon was raised to the eaves height of the nave. The round-arch windows are arranged in the polygon sides and in pairs on the nave wall; there is a round window at the apex of the polygon and above the pairs of windows. The interior, vaulted on heavy ribs, is particularly attractive due to the complexity of the architecture and is associated with the works of the Maulbronn Monastery's workshop (Walkenried Monastery, Bishop's Corridor in Magdeburg Cathedral). Because of the round arches used throughout, the imposts are at different heights. The columns have flat bases and bud capitals, which are decorated with elaborate, lively palmette decoration. The "exquisite beauty of the room" is enhanced by the lighting. The small west gallery is accessible from the infirmary.
