The iron bark "Capella" ran aground and sank on November 20, 1903.

The remains of the iron bark "Capella" lie directly below in front of the small Bovbjerg Geology Museum. The stern seen on the right of the picture is below breakwater B and the fore part of the ship with the large iron mast is very close to land just south of breakwater B. The ship ran aground with its cargo of planks on November 20, 1903 in very bad weather. The planned journey was to go from Areal in Norway to South Africa.

The 15-man crew consisted of three Danes, three Germans and nine Norwegians. All had taken refuge in the aft cabin. However, the stern was completely submerged by large waves, killing the entire crew. When the rescue team from Tuskjær Redningsstation arrived at the ship with their rocket apparatus and rescue chair, there was no one left to take the rocket line. Therefore, no connection to the wreck could be established.

Several of the crew's dead were driven ashore. When a Norwegian was later identified by his father, there were shocking scenes.
