The Magazine Fort, built in 1735, is a bastion fort and storehouse located within Phoenix Park (it was actually an ammunition storage facility until the mid-20th century).

There are still some 18th-century perimeter walls visible, despite being covered with concrete in the early 20th century.

Currently, the military structure is unsafe and not accessible to the public.

Occasional herds of reindeer introduced and maintained by municipal park operators are pasturing in the area.
