The Aißlinger house in Stadelgasse is popularly known as the oldest house in the city," says Angelica Borst-Kessler from the Aalen Tourist Service 18. The building that now houses "Aißlinger's Brotstadel", the "Kornhaus" bistro and apartments used to be "a typical farmer's house," says city guide Kurt Seifert people used to be driven into the stables in a horse-drawn carriage. The building with the red and white exterior façade, located on the corner of Storchenstrasse and Stadelgasse, is popularly considered to be the oldest house in the city.

In its original form, it was a typical agricultural town house with a living room, barn and stable area. Partially destroyed by fire in 1949, the house was restored in the old painting.
