Odder railway station was built in 1883.
The Hads-Ning-Herreders Railway (HHJ), which ran from Aarhus Central Station to Hov via Odder, was inaugurated on 19 June 1884. On 14 May 1904 the Horsens-Odder railway was inaugurated, making Odder a railway junction. The line to Horsens was closed on March 31, 1967.
On May 21, 1977, the Odder-Hov line was also closed. Odder thus became the terminus of the route from Aarhus to Odder.
On 9 December 2012 the Odder line was merged with the Aarhus to Grenaa line. where DSB operated new Desiro trains between Grenaa and Odder without changing at Aarhus H.
In 2016 the entire section from Odder to Grenaa was closed due to conversion to light rail.
On August 25, 2018, the light rail was put into operation.
At Odder station there is still (2022) a railcar from the former Odderbane.
