The Gruuthuse Museum brings the stories from Bruges' history back to life. The city palace of the lords of Gruuthuse has been a museum since the end of the 19th century. The collection originated from the collection of the Société Archéologique and has since grown to around 20,000 objects. Paintings show prominent historical figures and cityscapes, images from disappeared buildings take you back to times long past, tapestries, lace, copper and goldsmith's work are examples of the production of luxury goods in the city of that time.
