It was built in the 13th century by order of the Knights Hospitaller of St. John of Jerusalem and consecrated in 1268 by Albert the Great.
The Knights Hospitaller left in the 16th century, and it was used by the canons of Saint-Martin, then by the Augustinians.
The site was purchased in 1858 by the Sisters of Divine Providence of Ribeauvillé.
The building was remodeled in the 19th century, and only a few elements of the street and courtyard facades remain from the original structure.
Today it houses a private school.
