The old hospital was built in the period 1902 - 1904. The complex was expanded in 1984 with a care unit for the elderly. In 2000 it was renamed Maison Saint-Jacques. The beautiful forecourt (front yard) is an oasis of tranquility. Benches in alcoves provide some privacy and shade. Definitely a location to relax

The square is part of the front garden of the old hospital. Colmar locals call this location "The Green Mountain."
The park, in its current form, was developed in 1975. It is home to many species of trees, including a Japanese sophora, 18 of which have been planted. The dense foliage of the large trees makes it a popular park for passersby seeking a bit of coolness in the summer. A moment of relaxation away from the Place de l'Ancienne.
