A beautiful Baroque town in the Altmühl Valley. A short break is worthwhile not only because of the stunning townscape, the lovely atmosphere, and the charming places to eat and drink. You'll also find plenty to learn here – for example, at Willibaldsburg Castle with its Jura Museum or at the Altmühl Valley Nature Park Information Center.

The market square was the center of the Eichstatt town, which developed in the Middle Ages between the cathedral and the St. Walburg monastery.
The parish church once stood here, the former Eichstätter citizen church. However, only the north wall of the Gothic building remained. In 1444 the town hall with the towering tower was built on the market square. The late Gothic building was redesigned in the early 19th century. Since then, the town hall has had a neo-baroque facade with a curved gable and balcony on the main front.
