Dear forest visitors,
The Lower Saxony State Forests maintain a trekking camp on this site. The Clausthal forestry office uses the facility for forest and adventure education offers with school classes as well as events in the field of adult education.
The shelters are not a public place to stay and are not a freely usable barbecue or campfire site. Please note that here, as in other places in the forest, camping or bivouacking and open fires are not allowed. Help keep the place clean.
In our trekking camp we offer children, teenagers and adults the opportunity to experience the forest from a completely different perspective and at night. Out here under the starry sky, one's own sensory perception changes, weather phenomena can be felt up close and changes in the flora and fauna can be experienced directly and "real". Far away from the digital world, young people in the simple dwellings experience how little life there is Together and as a team, we master various tasks and experience how unique and diverse our forest is.
The Forest Education Center (WPZ) Harz operates and maintains the facility. As an environmental education center, the WPZ fulfills an educational mandate under the Lower Saxony Forest Act (NWaldG) and is recognized as an extracurricular place of learning. The aim is to give children, young people and adults an understanding of the forest habitat from different perspectives.
Sustainability, nature and species protection, responsible use of resources and climate change are some of our forest and adventure education topics.
