The Mehlblockalpe is located on a large forest meadow. Young cattle graze here in summer. Simple, tasty hospitality with plenty of space to sit outside makes the alp a worthwhile stop for a variety of tours in the Kempten Forest. The hosts are very nice. The evening moods are particularly beautiful here when the sun is gradually setting.

The boss is a cool, thoroughbred hostess. I was addressed informally, as is customary in an alpine inn, and she announced my meal as follows: "For the young man (I'm 63) on the windy seat." The potato salad came with two regular "Gschwollene" (swallows), although one would have been enough. The coffee is a proper filter coffee; otherwise, it's the usual alpine fare.
