St. Ludwig is a church building in Speyer that is to be profaned. Most recently it served the Catholic Church as the house church of the conference center Bistumshaus St. Ludwig until it was given up. The current building dates from the time of the reconstruction of the city in 1698 after the great destruction of the city in 1689.

St. Ludwig is a church building in Speyer that is scheduled to be deconsecrated. Most recently, it served the Catholic Church as the house church of the St. Ludwig Diocesan House conference center until its closure. The current building dates from the time of the city's reconstruction in 1698 following the great destruction of the city in 1689. The building is a reconstruction of the choir of the Gothic Dominican church that had been destroyed at that time.

Due to urgent renovation needs, St. Ludwig Diocesan House was closed in 2010. Initial plans to extensively renovate the buildings and to relocate the diocesan seminary, which had been located at St. Ludwig from 1834 to 1956, as well as the diocesan headquarters of the Caritas Association there, were abandoned for financial reasons. The buildings are to be sold, but their urban appearance will be preserved.

Now, the buyer is speaking publicly for the first time about her plans for the church. Other dreams have been shattered.

In 2010, the diocese vacated its "Bishop's House of St. Ludwig," which was in need of renovation, and in 2015, the decision was made to abandon it.
