The current church was built in 1839 under the pastorate of M.G. Jacobs, replacing an older church. The tower was rebuilt in 1857-72 to a design by H. Jaminé (Hasselt). Restoration and enlargement by building the transept in 1925 to a design by J. Deré. The church is located in the middle of the walled cemetery.
The plan describes a single-aisled church of three bays with an extended west tower, flanked by chapels; transept of one bay and choir of one bay with flat closure; sacristy against the east facade of the choir.
