Eugeen Van Mieghem, the artist of the harbor people occupies a special place in Antwerp's cultural heritage. De Landverhuizer is now the third sculpture based on the work of this artist. The Landmover is a life-size bronze statue by sculptor Carla Kamphuis-Meijer, after a drawing by Eugeen Van Mieghem. Between 1890 and 1930, 3 million people from Belgium and all over Europe moved with the Red Star Line from Antwerp to America to build a new life

The Emigrant is a tribute to the almost 1 million Jews who left Antwerp on the Red Star Line for America and Canada.
It is one of the 5 life-size bronze statues based on the work of Eugeen Van Mieghem on the Eilandje. It was made by sculptor Carla Kamphuis-Meijer after a drawing by Van Mieghem from January 26, 1904.

Historical significance: larger ships, such as the 200-meter-long Belgenland 2, departed from the Rijnkaai, near the Red Star Line Museum. This statue by Eugeen Van Mieghem was erected at a historical location specifically to commemorate the emigration.
