    The Clausthaler Flutgraben is a moat about 4120 meters long in the Upper Harz. It runs on the eastern slope of Bruchberg through a very water-rich area. The ditch zapft u.a. the upper reaches of the Sieber and various smaller Oder tributaries.
    In 1827, the Clausthal flood trench was completed. It has a hydraulic capacity of more than 100 liters of water per second. The ditch leads this water to the hub and thus ultimately to the ditch. This once led it to the water wheels of the mines in and around Clausthal.

    The Clausthaler flood ditch represents an outstanding technical masterpiece. It also shows the enormous effort that was used in the past to supply energy to the Harz silver mines.

    Today, the moat, which belongs to the approximately 50 kilometer embankment system and is entirely handcrafted, is a listed building. He is also an active member of the water composite system and UNESCO World Heritage "Upper Harz Water Regale". At the Clausthaler Flutgrabens you can walk along a beautiful path and get to know the water management building closer.
