In spring and autumn there is always a snack bar here that serves Franconian specialties and wines. For example in autumn: onion cake and Bremser for €6.50. It was delicious and the view and the weather were great.

Terroir-f-point: telescope sharpens view of Silvaner. The municipality of Rödelsee is investing a lot of money in its magical place of Franconian wine, better known as "terroir f". Since Castell had decided not to have its own location, Rödelsee was free to pursue Silvaner. The location at the hermitage on Schwanberg remains, but it is now located below in the vineyard itself, where the Silvaner theme can also continue to be explored.

The Silvaner - identity of a region - truly Franconian

The impressive structural sculpture of this magical place of Franconian wine can be seen from afar. Brilliantly white, as if a spaceship had landed from the wide sky above Franconia right above the vines, this cylinder floats in the wine culture landscape. Like a giant pair of binoculars, the Franconian cultural landscape opens up to the visitor as they enter, far into the seemingly endless horizon. Inside, the story of the Silvaner, which was first planted in Franconia over 350 years ago very close to this magical place in Castell, is told. No other grape variety embodies the Franconian wine country, its people and of course its wines as much as this grape variety. It is both the soul and identity of the Franconian wine region. And only a really great grape variety like the Silvaner is able to produce everything from simple, hearty wine to fresh, lively local and estate wines to great dry wines, the Great Growths. After enjoying the unique panorama, it is high time to enjoy a glass of Silvaner in Rödelsee.
