Don't forget your passport when hiking to the Czech Republic! A place steeped in history that brings back memories of terrible personal fates! We met a man whose family was separated by the border for many years; they only saw each other on occasional visits. Bunkers, customs houses and the remains of the Iron Curtain in Čížov are reminders of a bad past. How nice it is that people from both countries can meet again while hiking in the large shared national park.

Today a meeting place, the Thayabrücke was an insurmountable border at the time of the Iron Curtain. A small exhibition on the nature and history of the region, which can be visited in the Austrian customs house in the summer months, reports on this.
