Scilla - a fishing town on the Costa Viola
The town of Scilla is located in southern Calabria and is one of the most beautiful and well-known towns along this coast, the Costa Viola. Scilla is located directly on the Strait of Messina and thus offers a beautiful view of nearby Sicily and the possibility of making day trips there. With just under 5,000 inhabitants, Scilla is very tranquil. The city is very much characterized by fishing, but tourism is also slowly finding its way, as more and more Calabria vacationers are discovering the picturesque town in southern Calabria. The 600 m long and 30 m wide beach in the Marina Grande district offers a fantastic view of the city's landmark, the Castello Ruffo, located on a large rock. The beach itself is a mix of fine pebbles and coarse sand. Take a pedal boat and enjoy the view of the city from the water!

Scilla (formerly U Scigghiu in the dialect of Reggio Calabria) is an Italian municipality with 4,501 inhabitants in the metropolis of Reggio Calabria in Calabria.
It is a popular tourist resort on a promontory at the northern entrance to the Strait of Messina.
