Great view of the Lahn, and the path is quite high above the Lahn and the railway. In addition, the path often goes along the edge of the forest or it is so steep that there is a great view despite the forest. However, you should be careful, the path is narrow and it goes down really steeply on the side!

The "Wehrley von Runkel" includes a rocky, partially wooded valley slope along the northern bank of the Lahn. In addition to near-natural oak and hornbeam forests and structurally rich hedge communities, there are also small remaining areas of the special biotope type "lean grassland" with some rare plant species in this nature reserve. Rare mosses and ferns also thrive on the barren but sun-warmed rocks of the slopes. The extensive bushes and the near-natural deciduous forest also offer a wealth of regionally and internationally threatened bird species a richly structured habitat. In addition, the rocky, sun-warmed slope is an optimal habitat for the demanding green lizard, which is threatened with extinction. Historically, the slopes of the nature reserve in the "Wehrberge bei Runkel" area were used as a winegrowing site, which is possible due to the Mediterranean climate in the area. From this time, however, only remnants of the old vineyard walls have been preserved. They provide important hiding places and wintering grounds for reptiles.

From Villmar, you can get there very quickly via the Lahnhöhenweg, right past the old oak tree.
From there, a narrow hiking trail protected by trees and bushes continues in the direction of Runkel.
From the top you have a wonderful view of the Lahn between Villmar and Runkel
