From the thief tower you have a wonderful view over Bad Sooden-Allendorf.
But you are standing in front of a locked door if you have not previously borrowed the key for a deposit of EUR 20 from the town hall service office. The town hall is at Marktplatz 8, which is approx. 400 m away. The opening times of the service office are according to the notice at the town hall:
Mon 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tue 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wed closed
Thu 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Fri 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Sat 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

In recent years, the tower could also be climbed without having to pick up the key in advance from the service office (open during the day). From the top you have a fantastic all-round view of Bad Sooden-Allendorf. In front of the tower is a large children's playground, a small soccer field and a basketball hoop. All in all a wonderful spot for a (longer) break.
