Judith de Leeuw, born and raised in Amsterdam, is the creative brain behind JDL street art.

Rotterdam Street art museum - JVLHer work is characterized by the use of exclusively black and white. She herself says that it is a reflection of herself.

Judith almost exclusively wears black and gray clothing and through her art she is able to show how she feels.

Judith also thinks that black and white can convey more emotions than other colors do for her. The use of black and white keeps the attention focused on the essence of the work. More use of color detracts from this.

The diptych on Kruisplein consists of a panel with a very realistic image of the Rotterdam rapper Winne on the right side. On the left side of the diptych you can see a more playful work of art that gives a face to the diversity of the West-Kruiskade.

She says about her work for the Rotterdam Street Art Museum:

'The multicultural history and society of West-Kruiskade is truly an icon. Winne grew up in a “disadvantaged neighborhood” and achieved enormous success. That is also the story of the street itself.

Formerly one of the most infamous streets and one of the most beloved, precisely because of its multicultural identity and difficult history. The mural is an icon and inspiration for the neighborhood.'
