Location:
Oberfladnitz is a beautifully situated village northeast of Retz and lies in a hilly landscape, surrounded by the Fuchsberg and Kuhberg in the west and the Feuerberg in the east. 80 people currently live in Oberfladnitz.

Story:
1045 the name Fladnitz appears for the first time as Faldniza. This indicates that the place of residence Fladnitz got its name from the stream near Göttweig, since flat means pure or clear. Another theory of the naming is that this village belonged to the Niederfladnitz estate and therefore bears its name.

Chapel:
The local chapel is a simple building with a retracted round apse, western ridge turret and segmental arched window. Inside the chapel there is a lunette barrel over belt arches on double pilasters with cranked entablature, there is also a simple curved stucco mirror. The box altar with a volute-supported tabernacle and a group of figures "Assumption of Mary" is an eye-catcher in the chapel. The figures placed on the side represent St. Florian and Sebastian.
