Very nicely built. There are many tables with information. From above you can see the whole area. You can also sit next to it and relax. I had to push my bike for the last 200 meters because it was too strenuous.

The "observation and telegraph tower" has 8 floors with a height of 3 m each. The top floor is a freely accessible observation platform, the floor of which is 21 m above the foundation. The roof at a height of 24 m is also designed as a (second) viewing platform: this platform is only accessible with a guide. The signal mast protrudes 9 m above the roof, so the total height of the tower from the bottom to the top is 33 m.

Since the tower does not stand directly on the summit of the Lattberg (231 m), but on its southwestern spur at 229 m, the viewing platform on the roof is 253 m above sea level (above sea level).

Visible from afar, a lookout tower rises out of the landscape on the Lattberg near the small town of Entrup, which is crowned with a strange installation. The 33 meter high tower is intended to be a reminder of the historic Prussian optical telegraph line between Berlin and Koblenz. The line operated until the middle of the 19th century consisted of 62 stations, the Lattbergturm was station number 31. Due to the different positions of the wings on the roof, encrypted signals were transmitted from tower to tower.

Today the observation tower offers a box seat for the concert of the tree frogs, which echoes from the clay pits in Nieheim in mild April and May nights, from its roofed panorama floor, which is 24 meters high. It also offers a wide all-round view of the Emmer and Beber meadows up to the Hermannsdenkmal in the Teutoburg Forest.

The tower is part of the "Exquisite Nature" project in the cultural region of Höxter and a stop on the cycle route "In the kingdom of the green king".
