When you step aboard the Mercuur, you immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a Dutch naval ship from the 1950s. Awaken the sailor in you, step through hatches and doors, climb the steep ship's stairs. Hold on tight, because when the wind blows hard, this former minesweeper actually moves! As you explore, discover the stories of this unique naval ship with a rich past. Stand at the helm in the wheelhouse, discover where the commander's cabin was located, see where the crew slept, view the sickbay, the command center, the radio cabin and, last but not least, the impressive engine room. Visitors will also encounter Michiel de Ruijter and a collection of ships that made it into the Guinness Book of Records. There are all kinds of fun things to do for children. And everyone is also welcome at the Mercuur for a children's party or a business event!

De Mercuur is a former Dutch ocean minesweeper. The ship came as Hr.Ms. Fearless in 1954 from the US to the Netherlands. She was later converted into a torpedo depot ship and renamed Hr.Ms. Mercury. This oldest wooden minesweeper of the Royal Netherlands Navy is now a living history museum ship in Vlissingen and is maintained and restored by volunteers from the Vlissingen Maritime Heritage Foundation.
