Building on the successful development of Chemnitz city center, the focus of urban development is on strengthening the areas close to the city center. The Brühl in particular has a wide range of development potential that needs to be exploited. Ideas for this are a university district around the Alte Aktienspinnerei, the connection with the Chemnitz model and, very significantly, the development of Brühl as an urban quarter. With the current conversion of the old stock spinning mill into the central library of the TU Chemnitz, a decisive building block for this development has already been set.
