Joggers, cyclists, those looking for relaxation, families - the city park is a meeting point for many people in Hamburg. On beautiful summer weekends, the fairground is full of people and the smell of grilled food is in the air. This is exactly how the planners imagined it when they had the park laid out in 1914. The Hamburg city park was supposed to be a place to play, store, romp around and relax and has remained so to this day. Whether sport, culture or botany: the park unites many sites under its green roof. International stars make guest appearances on the open-air stage in the summer months, the planetarium invites you to readings and journeys into the world of the stars and offers a view over the park and all of Hamburg from a terrace 40 meters high. A lake, many gardens and a large playground.
The large fairground and the lake with outdoor pool form the heart of the park.
Athletes can swim in the Stadtparksee nature park, rent a boat from the canoe rental service or use the beach volleyball courts. Rose and hedge gardens take you into the art of horticulture. The number one destination for families with children is the playground with a giant paddling pool. And if you don't want to prepare your own picnic, you can meet up with friends in one of the two beer gardens or five cafés. The park is located in the Winterhude district between Ohlsdorfer Strasse, Jahnring, Saarlandstrasse and Südring and is open around the clock all year round. Nearby underground and S-Bahn stations are Borgweg, Saarlandstraße and Alte Wöhr. The park can be reached by boat via the Goldbek Canal.
