Along with the Wendelsteinbahn, the Drachenfelsbahn and the Stuttgart cog railway, the Bayerische Zugspitzbahn is one of four cog railways still in operation in Germany. The meter-gauge route leads from the Garmisch-Partenkirchner district of Garmisch to the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany.

Personally, I would recommend taking the cable car up to visit the Zugspitze - and down the cog railway. Both have their charms. The ride on the Zahradbahn takes a while, and it could happen in changeable weather that you can no longer see anything above. The tickets can be combined.

It is worthwhile to go up with the new train. But I think she is very expensive. If you are upstairs you have an excellent view with a clear view. And from there you can hike with climbing equipment to the summit cross over.

The support is visible from afar. At 3213 m, the cable car section between the support and the summit forms the longest span of all cable cars. And the cable car, at 1945 meters, also has the world's largest difference in altitude in one section. The trip is clearly overpriced (especially if you compare the prices directly with the other railways in Garmisch), but it is still an exciting experience!
