"In 893 Niederscheidweiler was mentioned for the first time in Germany's most famous register of goods - the Prüm Urbar - the register of goods of the Imperial Abbey of Prüm. But people lived here much earlier, as various finds from Roman times show.
For example the pine cone (AD 200-300) - a grave crown and symbol of eternal life - and parts of a Roman villa in the church area. Until the end of the feudal period, Niederscheidweiler belonged to the Electorate of Trier. During the visitation in 1569, the chapel and later church already lists Saint Hubert as the church and local patron.
The village church tells part of the village history. The tower, which still characterizes the village today, dates from the late 12th or 13th century.
The current nave was built in 1806 after the old church burned down in 1799 along with a large part of the village.
From 1964 to 1966 the church was expanded to its present form.
Special sights in the parish church are: the large statue of the Mother of God, probably from the Wittlich Castle Chapel, 18th century, the cemetery cross in the chapel, also 18th century, the "Eternal Light" from the time the nave was built, and the modern works from that time of the church extension by the Wittlich sculptor Hanns Scherl."
