Until the end of the 19th century, the disappeared town of Schutzalf was located in the beautiful Alfbach valley, about one and a half kilometers east of Mückeln. The former hamlet, consisting of three or four houses and a chapel with a brother's apartment, was located between the Sprinker Hof and the Sprinker Mühle, both of which were owned by the Augustinian monastery Springiersbach, which was founded in the early 12th century.
The large stones lying here are the old altar stones from the Schutzalf chapel, of which a small part of the foundation can still be seen.
