      This section of the route north of the Gernsheim Rhine ferry to Oppenheim is more or less the counterpart to the "bicycle motorway" in Ried in Hesse on the other side of the Rhine. Both bicycle highways can be wonderfully combined with the ferry connections in Gernsheim or Kornsand.
      The asphalt quality is excellent and the path is wonderfully wide. This is how you want bike paths.

            The route is signposted as the official D8 bike path. As a motorway, I would not call that, the way is too bad! If I had already done my MTB tours back then, I would not have been so tormented.
