Under the motto "Anyone who wants to express themselves about the present and find their way in the future must know the past", the Heimatverein Übernthal began setting up a Heimatstube in the former school in the Übernthal district in 1977.
It was expanded and expanded into a local history museum in 1978/79 and 1980. The initiators put a lot of effort and care into collecting sights. The aim of the museum is to maintain the testimony of the cultural and economic development of our ancestors. Here, the cultural values of the Siegbach Valley are preserved for posterity. The visitor has the opportunity to find out about the way the ancestors worked and lived with the help of objects, pictures and documents.
In the Siegbach local history museum there is a mining department with good illustrations of historical pictures and a collection of minerals from the local area. Handicraft rooms with an original village smithy and carpenter's shop are also available, as is a distinctive collection of agricultural implements. A large room is furnished with museum pieces of living culture. The library is spectacular, where legal collections and official announcements from the 19th century round off the furnishings.
This institution is to serve the honor of the ancestors and the teaching of the youth.
