"Four historical game enclosures in the forest area of the Dresdner Heide are referred to as sow gardens. Wild boars that had been caught were kept in the sow gardens until the 1820s, and were then released again for courtly hunts. The sow gardens were walled and contained a small farmstead. Their soil was common swampy and they each had a small stream running through them.Today they are all on the territory of the Saxon state capital of Dresden.

After the Dresden suction garden was no longer sufficient, the approx. 1 hectare old suction garden was created between the “Kuhschwanz” and “Unterringel” forest paths in the 18th century. This game reserve, later called Liegauer Sugarten, is located south of Liegau-Augustusbad on the city limits, but still on Dresden territory. A memorial stone with a small rest area and low remains of the wall are reminiscent of the site, which was removed in 1876." - de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saugarten
