The Guglzipf is Berndorf's local mountain. In 1902 the first wooden lookout point was built on the mountain and several paths were laid out. In 1908 the forest hut was built on the Guglzipf. Both have now been renovated several times. The view from the tower is far-reaching: In addition to the Berndorf basin with the surrounding mountains Hohe Mandling and Waxeneck, there are the Leithagebirge and the Hundsheimer mountains to the east, the Hohe Wand to the south and Kieneck, Hocheck and Peilstein to the west, and the Vienna Woods with the Hohen to the north to see the Lindkogel.

In 1902 the first wooden lookout tower was built on the mountain and several paths were laid out on the summit. In 1908 the forest hut was built on the Guglzipf. After the Second World War, the tower had to be demolished. In 1982, the community bought the then dilapidated forest hut, which was subsequently renovated by the association “Waldhütte Guglzipf-Berndorf” and thus remained as a tourist destination. In 1990/91, the 34-metre-high anniversary watchtower was built and opened on August 31, 1991. It was finally renamed Franz-Bichler-Warte in 2006 in honor of the long-standing chairman of the “Waldhütte Guglzipf-Berndorf” association. The observation tower was a listed building until 2016.
