It stands isolated just north of the center, but was originally part of a larger complex. Built on an artificial motta 4-5 meters high, it was located in a strategic position, near the Ongaresca road that connected the ford on the Piave di Stabiuzzo to that on the Livenza di Fontanelle.

Probably of Roman origins, the castle was a possession of the Patriarchs of Aquileia, the Ezzelini and the Caminesi and finally, from 1358, to the Collaltos. In 1411 it yielded to the siege of the Hungarians led by Pippo Spano.

The building remained almost intact until 1918, but was destroyed by the retreating Austrians at the end of the Great War. Other severe damage was caused by a hurricane in 1925
