The Zirkelschacht was a mine in the Mansfelder Land in which copper slate was mined. His former company premises are around two kilometers east of Klostermansfeld. It is located directly on the country road from Polleben to Klostermansfeld. There are a few parking options here in the area around the "Zirkelschacht" train station of the Mansfelder Bergwerksbahn.
The copper mine shaft was driven a total of 495 meters deep between 1891 and 1895. During its heyday, up to 2,000 miners found work in the Zirkelschacht and with it wages and bread and butter. This activity was not without danger and many workers paid for it with their health or even their lives.
The mine was connected to the Mansfeld mining railway in 1900. The mined ore was transported with this railway to the Helbra cooking hut and melted down there. The workers also got to their workplace by the company railway.
