The Roßdorfer Tor, formerly also known as Plessschlag, was a passage through the Henneberger Landwehr. This Landwehr began at the Hohe Klinge near Laudenbach
and led through the Hen Hills
up to the high Rhön. It was 60 km long in total. The section from Hohe Klinge to Roßdorfer Tor is also known as the "Breiter Landwehr". The continuation towards Schönsee is called "Bernshäuser Hähl".
