Vakhtang I Gorgasali (Georgian ვახტანგ I გორგასალი; * 440; † 502 in Ujarma, Iberia) was a Georgian king of the Chozroid dynasty. From 452 to 502 he ruled over the kingdom of Iberia. He waged war against the late ancient Persian Sassanid Empire and founded Tiflis, today's Georgian capital.

In popular Georgian tradition, King Vakhtang is considered the founder of the city of Tiflis / Tbilisi. In fact, he intended to move the capital from Mtskheta to Tbilisi, but only his son Dachi managed to do this. Vakhtang's life is described in the work of the Georgian historian Chuanscher. Over the centuries, the tradition has been enriched with legends and has also inspired numerous folk songs and stories.
