Jubilee trail 1250 years of Flums, Mels, Sargans

From the Sargans Splee Chapel, the trail leads via Sargans Castle along the wine-growing trail to Heiligkreuz. Here you continue to the Hagerbach test tunnel. A restaurant or meeting place with a fireplace invite you to linger. The hike then continues in the direction of Flums, with a beautiful view of the valley, the Flumserberge and the Churfirsten. The path then goes via Hochwiesen to the end point at Flums train station.

Along the way there are 15 panels with information about the history of the region. These panels were designed by school classes for the 1250th anniversary. They contain interesting facts about the floods in Flums and Mels, Pfäfers Abbey, the Romansh language, place and field names, Nidberg Castle, the County of Sargans, Bishop Tello's will, Mels Abbey, Gonzenbergwerk and the small town of Sargans.

The path can also be started at Flums train station and ends at the Splee chapel in Sargans. From there it is only a five-minute walk to the train station. The entire hike is on the southern slope and therefore offers good weather conditions. The easy hiking trail is also suitable for families (note: not suitable for prams).
