The ferry at Jonen connects the bike tour from Giethoorn to Blokzijl and vice versa. In a few minutes you reach the other bank of the Walengracht and can continue the bike tour through the Weerribben-Wieden.

This little ferry will take you across the water in Jonen. In summer it is served by a captain, in winter you can bring yourself by hand to the other side of the river.

This “pontje” of bicycle ferry currently is out of service because of Corona... so first check locally for availability or risk a return trip via the lovely (small) bike path from Giethoorn to Jonen

On Sundays we had a waiting time of about 60 minutes. Very nice but added an hour to our bike ride. The skipper was in no hurry either.

Tip:
You need some small change for the ticket (1.30 euros) and it is best to match it right away.

Now the crossing costs €1.30. It doesn't matter, it's still a highlight. Payment was only possible by card and a lot of patience 😂

Please note that the following applies here: aleen pinn, not constant betaalen. The ferry drove over to the other bank after a few minutes. If you don't want to use the ferry, you have to take a longer detour.
