What is remarkable is that, despite its considerable size, the entire cathedral only consists of a single nave.

The cathedral is right on the Way of St. James and has a beautiful brass plate embedded in the ground in front of the church with an explanation about it

Saint-André Cathedral is a religious building in Bordeaux (France) that serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Bordeaux. This cultural monument was classified as a monument historique in 1862 and is therefore protected as such.

At 124 meters long, 18 meters wide in the transept, 23 meters high in the nave, and 29 meters high in the choir, the cathedral is the largest and most important religious building in the city of Bordeaux.

The nave is a single-nave hall church, which is surprising for a building of this size, but more common in western France. The outer walls date from the Romanesque church, but the vaulting is from the late Gothic period.

The west façade is completely unadorned and has no portal.

On the north side of the nave is the Gothic royal portal, built around 1250.

Construction of a new cathedral began around 1280, with an ambulatory choir and chapels in the style of northern French Gothic. The transept is distinguished by twin-towered facades at both ends, which compensates for the austere west front.

The north portal, dating from the early 14th century, features rich sculptural decoration
        with figures of the Archbishops of Bordeaux. It is surmounted by two 81-meter-high towers with pointed, Gothic spires. The Gothic structure was completed around 1350;
a new nave was apparently not planned.

In the 15th century, the north transept rose window received a new flamboyant tracery,
while the south transept rose window retains the 14th-century tracery.

During the French Revolution, the interior furnishings were destroyed
and the cathedral itself was converted into a barn.

The cathedral has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1998 as part of the "Way of St. James in France."

In the church, a family service with the Archbishop took place in the afternoon at 15:30. The cathedral was packed to the last seat, the children incredibly focused and quiet, quiet music and great Latin songs. Very impressive.

          I also got a stamp.

Saint-André Cathedral is a single-nave, Romanesque, Romanesque building with gothic extensions and, at 127 meters, one of the largest cathedrals in France. The freestanding tower Pey-Berland was added in flamboyant style between 1440 and 1450. At 50 meters, it is the highest public vantage point in the city.

The Gothic cathedral was built from the end of the 12th century to the 15th century and is 124 meters long, 18 meters wide in the transept, 23 meters high in the nave and 29 meters high in the choir, making it the largest and most important sacred building in the city of Bordeaux. The western nave of the Romanesque church is still preserved. The previous building was consecrated in 1096 by Pope Urban II. The weddings of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Louis VII took place in this cathedral in 1137 and that of Louis XIII in 1615. with Anna of Austria.

The nave is a single-nave hall church, which is surprising for a building of this size, but is more common in western France (cf. the cathedrals of Angers and Le Mans). The outer walls come from the Romanesque church, but the vault is from the late Gothic period. Buttresses were added to the sides of the building to create the vault.

The large cathedral at the so-called king's portal from the 13th century has sculptural decorations worth seeing.

For me, the cathedral is the most beautiful from a bird's perspective.
We as humans gain this view from the “Tour Pey-Berland” tower.

Built between the 12th and 16th centuries. In the Gothic style, it was the scene of two royal weddings between Eleanor of Aquitaine and the later Louis Vil and between Anne of Austria and Louis XIII. The Pey Berland Tower, built separately from the cathedral in the 15th century, offers a magnificent view of the city (50 meters).
