In 1832 the community bought a new piece of land and set up a new cemetery here. The first dead person was buried there on December 24th, 1837. It was the single stonecutter, Peter Jäger, from the Pflaumheim poor house. In 1854 the old cemetery was closed and leveled. In 1926 the cemetery wall was moved 6m towards the street. The entrance, a mighty iron gate, remained in the old place.

In the mighty cemetery wall, the old tombstones from the closed cemetery were walled in and preserved for posterity. Some of the old tombstones are behind current graves and cannot be examined for names and dates. One would only have a chance after the graves have been dissolved. Some of the old tombstones are weathered beyond recognition. They were made from the coveted local sandstone. Local historian Schuck dates the old tombstones with the year "1661 until the 19th century".
