The fourth tower of Ghent is a modernist masterpiece by the Belgian architect Henry van de Velde.
The 64 meter high concrete building has 24 floors. It was conceived from the start as a university library and continues to fulfill that role to this day. More than three million books are housed there.

The Boekentoren is a 66 meter high tower in the Belgian city of Ghent, designed by the Belgian architect-artist Henry Van de Velde. As the main repository of the Ghent university library, the tower is also a symbol for the university and the city of Ghent.
