The parish church of St. Aegidius is a Roman Catholic church in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising in the municipality of Bergen in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein. Until the 14th century there was no church in the place. At that time, Bergen belonged to the parish of Vachendorf, the nearest church was the St. Jabobus branch church in Bernhaupten. The first church in Bergen was built towards the end of the 14th century. It was inaugurated on April 19, 1513 as the back of the Church of the Assumption of Mary in Vachendorf. On September 1, 1863, the foundation stone for the new church was laid. It is a late classicist design. The construction was finished in 1866 under the master builder Franz Schegg. The consecration took place on September 14, 1866 Archbishop Gregor von Scherr. In 1869 the church tower was raised to 59.15 meters and adapted to the new church. In addition to the three bells that had existed since 1846, two more were added in 1872.
