Always a sporting challenge to ride the Amiata. There are several driveways. Our RR group always starts in Castel del Piano. Important: always take warm clothes with you. The departure can be quite tricky. Time after time people have dropped off of us. There is not much to admire on the summit. In the spring (around Easter) it can be 23 degrees Celsius in the valley and on the top there is still snow and it is swine cold (the rule!). Here is the link: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiata
