To the east of the Wall Trail near Bahnhofstrasse, an information board provides information on the Blankenfelde medical center. From 1941 to 1945, the site housed a "hospital camp for workers from the East who were unable to work," men and women from the Soviet Union who had been deported to the German Reich for forced labor. No longer usable for "work assignments", the people in this camp were exposed to catastrophic hygienic conditions, inadequate care and a lack of medical care. To date, at least 700 deaths are known to have been proven.
