It is a place historically known for its copper mines which remained active from 1200 until the last century. Its name "La Francesca" probably derives from "Francigena", the famous medieval road that led pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela in France, and from these rocky coasts a road was built connecting the sea and the important via di communication.
Only a few steps, a two-minute walk from the cycle path to the cliff, and you immediately notice a different temperature. The promontory in its conformation creates a basin facing south within which an extraordinary microclimate is created, the hill is a natural barrier that prevents north winds from creeping into the cliffs, guaranteeing blooms along the path in every season of the year .
From 1961 along the creuza you pass in front of the homonymous Resort built overhanging the sea. In 1999 the area was hit by a rather large fire that affected the area of the pine forest upstream. However, still today, along the path to the sea, among the numerous wooden stairs built to facilitate the passage from one cliff to another, you can enjoy practically intact flora.
