Less than a kilometer downstream from the current bridge, the so-called "Queen's Bridge" stood: there are still the remains of two pillars which testify to the existence of this bridge which crossed the river between Almè and Almenno.

Bortolo Belotti, in his "History of Bergamo and the Bergamo people", refers to a code from 1493 in which it is said that "the bridge of Almenno, built, is more than a thousand years old", certifying not only the name in use but also the attribution of its construction to the Romans.

It was only after its collapse in 1493 that the building began to be referred to as the "Queen's Bridge".

Myth and popular belief erroneously attributed his remains to a Lombard queen, identified by some as Teutperga and instead, by most, as Theodelinda.

Among the photos there is a reconstruction of what the Lemine Bridge must have looked like made by the engineer. Elia Fornoni, on behalf of the Prefect of the Province of Bergamo on 28 March 1893 before proceeding with the demolition of the unsafe remains of the bridge, safeguarding the parts from the Roman era.

By carrying out surveys on the finds, Fornoni hypothesized their original appearance and the structural deficiencies that led to their collapse in subsequent times.

Approximately 180 meters long, the bridge consisted of 8 mirrored arches with a central pylon, with two different radiuses but the same impost plan.

The first town you meet once you take the bridge towards the Imagna Valley is Almenno San Salvatore, which with about 6,000 inhabitants is one of the most populous areas in the entire valley. Its history has a common origin with that of Almenno San Bartolomeo, with which it borders.
