Opposite the venerable, massive wooden building of the Luenenburg Academy is Hillcrest Cemetery - the oldest Protestant cemetery in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and one of the oldest in Canada. The oldest tombstone is dated to 1761, eight years after Lunenburg was founded.
Both are a bit outside of the city center, but the detour is worthwhile, if only because of the far-reaching view.
