The Central Market of Alicante is an eclectic style building, with ornaments of Valencian modernism, from the early 20th century.
It serves as a municipal market and is located on Avenida de Alfonso el Sabio.
It was designed by the architect Francisco Fajardo Guardiola in 1915 and completed by Juan Vidal Ramos in 1922.
The rear facade adjoins Plaza 25 de Mayo with a pretty flower kiosk and lovely terrace café.
The building consists of a semi-basement and an upper floor. Upstairs, mainly meat is sold; downstairs fish and vegetables. There are also several other points of sale and cozy bars downstairs.
