The old shelter hut at the "Am Zollstock" crossroads was replaced in October 2021 with this chestnut "Wood Stop." Behind it are three wooden "hammocks."
The information board explains the sustainable construction method.
"The Wood Stop is made of sweet chestnut wood, which has previously been rarely used for this purpose. [...] The curved and self-supporting lattice shell construction represents a modern reinterpretation of the [particularly material-efficient] ZOLLINGER construction method. [...]
The Zollinger roof saves 30 to 40 percent of building materials compared to other roof truss and hall roof structures made of glued laminated timber."
